Richard Poskozim
Associate Attorney
Richard handles a wide variety of general negligence matters, including premises liability, coverage, automobile, general negligence, medical malpractice, and dramshop claims among others. He has worked a number of divisions at CGW including working on our high volume litigation program, and assisting with legal bill review consultation.
Prior to joining CGW, Richard worked extensively in government representation, and worked for both the Illinois Office of the Attorney General and the City of Chicago. In those positions, Richard represented state and city agencies and employees in courts across the state of Illinois, defending against many types of personal injury, breach of contract, and employment claims.
Richard has also worked extensively in private practice outside of CGW. He has represented life, health, and disability insurance providers in a diverse array of state and federal litigation, including coverage disputes and fraudulent misrepresentation claims, and he has also worked with an intellectual property firm where he handled trademark disputes for multiple well known clients. Richard has also interned and clerked for several judges in the General Chancery division of the Cook County Circuit Court, including Presiding Judge Moshe Jacobius, Judge Michael T. Mullen and Illinois Appellate Court Justice Mary Mikva.
Richard received his JD from Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he honed his advocacy skills by working extensively with the school’s Moot Court team. Richard took first place in the DePaul Cultural Heritage Competition, and earned the Caitlin E. Jones “Coach of the Year” award. Richard received his BA in Journalism from Ohio State University, where he graduated magna cum laude.
