Gregory V. Ginex
Senior Partner
Greg leads a team at Costello Ginex and Wideikis dealing with high value construction cases, product liability, medical negligence, and transportation matters. He has defended numerous high exposure personal injury cases throughout Illinois and has been involved in a wide variety of litigation and trial work since his admission to the Illinois Bar. Greg has trial experience in cases involving professional liability, product liability, medical malpractice, premises liability and toxic torts, among others.
Greg was recognized by the Cook County Jury Verdict Reporter and given an award for Trial Lawyer Excellence for his part in obtaining a defense verdict in Samuels v. Tishman, a toxic mold exposure case. The award was presented at the JVR’s Fiftieth Anniversary Celebration and First Annual Awards Ceremony and was only one of two awards given for outstanding defense verdicts. Mr. Ginex also handled all aspects of the plaintiff's appeal in the Samuels matter where the defense verdict was upheld.
Greg was also a member of the team handling the appeal in Petraski v. Thedos where the admissibility of alcohol consumption by a plaintiff was at issue.
Greg has been selected to the Illinois Super Lawyers list every year since 2020, and prior to that he was included in every edition of Illinois Super Lawyers - Rising Stars since 2012. Mr. Ginex was also named an Emerging Lawyer by the Leading Lawyers Network, a distinction given to the top 2% of attorneys under the age of 40 or who have been practicing for less than 10 years. In addition, Mr. Ginex was named to the 2017 class of 40 Under 40 by the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.
Greg has previously been a member of the St. Mary of Gostyn School Advisory Board.
Representative Matters
Greg defended the manufacturer of a two-hand control module installed on a swage press that allegedly malfunctioned, resulting in a severe partial-amputation of plaintiff’s right hand.
Greg defended the manufacturer of a safety light curtain installed on a press brake that allegedly malfunctioned, resulting in the partial-amputation of seven fingers on plaintiff’s hands.
Greg defended the marketer of a synthetic thoroughbred horse racing surface that allegedly caused paraplegia when two jockeys fell upon the surface.
Greg is defense counsel for the manufacturer of a cryogenic freezer controller that allegedly malfunctioned, resulting in the loss of over sixty plaintiffs’ tissue samples. Plaintiffs allege that they have either lost or suffered diminished ability to conceive biological children as a result.
Along with his partner, Greg tried a construction negligence case to verdict during which he successfully moved to bar plaintiff’s claim for lost income.
Along with his partner, Greg. defended the target defendant in a trucking negligence case involving five deaths and multiple other injuries.
Greg is currently defending a community hospital located on the south side of Chicago in various claims alleging medical negligence.
